Prepared especially for the Institute of Modern Art (Meanjin/Brisbane) 2024 Zine Fair in an open edition.
Created in response to the launch of the Europa Clipper probe, an artists book examining fragility and the impacts of experience, informed by the long-standing trope of protecting Europa from cavalier exploration in science fiction* in an era of increasingly brazen commercial space ventures.
While personally fully in support of the careful, diligent practices of professional scientific ventures, I am desperately concerned that despite the respectful strategies of NASA an associated entities, how long will it be until the likes of Blue Origin and SpaceX will be shipping celebrities off for long weekends on the distant moons?
*Europa exploration eventually given the blessing of Arthur C. Clark after his literary admonishments to attempt no landings.
